Aerial Yoga Comes to Johns Creek

Truth In Motion Yoga in Johns Creek has added aerial yoga to its offerings.

The studio’s owner, Irina Walton, says she received requests for the class, the studio’s first offering that veers from traditional yoga. She was also motivated to develop the class because she has a general desire to offer a variety of activities that are not yoga, such as belly dancing.

Walton says that one benefit of aerial yoga is traction of the spine, which occurs from being suspended. “You can’t achieve that on the mat,” she says. “It’s just not the same.”

Kevin Osburn, who in addition to his RYT 500 certification has received comprehensive aerial teacher training, teaches the all-levels class, offered Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. and Saturday at 1:45 p.m.

The class is limited to seven or eight participants because of the limited number of harnesses available. Because of the small class size, the fee is $25 per class instead of the usual $16 for all other classes. A 10-class pass will reduce the rate to $21/class; the pass expires four months after issuance.
