The American Herbalists Guild (AHG) will hold its 29th annual symposium October 25 to 29 at Unicoi State Park and Lodge in Helen, Georgia.

The keynote speaker, Phyllis D. Light, is a fourth-generation Alabama herbalist and the author of the newly released book Southern Folk Medicine.

This year’s symposium will feature more than 40 lectures as well as pre- and post-symposium intensives. Everyone—herbal practitioners, medical professionals, students and newcomers—is invited. Attendees can learn from skilled botanists, take part in panel discussions and find out about leading companies in herbal products, education and more. AHG also provides a live streaming option for those who want to participate online.

“Bioregional herbalism” is this year’s theme. The symposium’s extensive list of class topics includes Herbal Assistance in Opioid and Kratom Withdrawal, Herbs for Traumatic Stress, Little-Known Medicinal Plants of the Southeastern U.S., Preventing Adverse Events, Energetics of Rx Medications, and more. Participants can earn a certificate in bioregional materia medica in clinical practice by attending certain sessions.

The American Herbalists Guild was founded in 1989 as a nonprofit educational organization to promote professionalism and education in the study and practice of therapeutic herbalism.
