Canton Festival's Serenity Garden to Teach Healthy Living

A treasured feature of Canton’s Festival of the Arts— the Serenity Garden—will return this year due to popular demand. Visitors will learn about the art of gardening and issues of sustainability along with a variety of ways to bring all things green into their daily lives. Beekeepers will display their beehives and talk about the important role that bees play in the local and national ecosystems. Plants, jams, jellies, soaps and lotions will be for sale. A wine-andbeer garden, along with food concessions, is included.

The Serenity Garden will be just part of the fun at the 15th annual festival. The Artist’s Market, the centerpiece of the day, will showcase more than 50 local and national artists. Students from throughout the county are invited to participate in the Jack Fincher Rising Artist Market, which is dedicated to showcasing emerging artists. Book lovers are invited to join the Literacy Celebration, where recognized authors participate in panel discussions about their work, and sign books. The Kids Zone will offer free make-andtake art stations and activities designed for the little ones.

Canton’s Festival of the Arts will be held on May 19 and 20 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Brown Park, in the newly revitalized historic Canton downtown, at 270 E. Marietta Street. Attendance is free with a $5 suggested donation per family.
