Stone Mountain to Host Georgia Pow Wow

From November 2 to 5, Stone Mountain Park will host Georgia’s largest Native American Festival & Pow Wow, featuring the cultures of regional and local tribes.

To be held in Stone Mountain Park’s Historic Square, the pow wow will feature Native American dance and drum competitions, craft demonstrations and traditional foods. There will also be wildlife demonstrations and storytelling.

Children and adults will be able to explore native-style dwellings in an interactive encampment and learn about flint knapping, bow making, fire starting and open-fire cooking. Crafted items will be for sale.

The grand entrance for the dance competitions, which offer cash prizes, will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Dancers are to register on site and required to be in proper regalia.

The farmyard will not be open during the pow wow.

The Native American Festival & Pow Wow is free for Stone Mountain Park members. The festival is included in the park’s all attractions Adventure Pass Ticket, or $15 plus tax for the festival only. Daily parking is $15, $40 for the season. Children 2 and younger are free. For more information visit StoneMountainPark.com.
