An agency that promotes sustainable homes and workplaces is offering free tours of its Atlanta Eco office from 10 to 11 a.m. every Wednesday. Southface works for renewable and sustainable communities through services such as building design review, building certification services and technology research. The agency also offers building audits, construction consulting, policy development and code research. The tour showcases more than 100 technologies and techniques that make the building “one of the most sustainable in the region,” using 50 percent less energy and 80 percent less water than a traditional office building, according to Southface.org. Tours are led by junior staff and can accommodate 20 people at a time. Admission is free but a $5 donation is encouraged. Anyone needing a tour on a different day or time can email [email protected] to arrange a tour during office hours. Professional tours for those in the architecture industry are led by staff from the commercial sustainability services team and cost $15 per person. There are no weekend tours.
