Natural Awakenings Atlanta

Dance Through A Chakra Journey

Move your way through self-discovery September 29-October 1 with the dance of 5Rhythms’ Chakra Journey.

First Existentialist Congregation in Atlanta will host the event, open to all levels, to help people “unstick” their energy and seek equilibrium through exploring chakras with the practice of 5Rhythms.

5Rhythms is a moving meditation practice in which dancers are encouraged to be free, open, heal and connect through participating in movement to the five rhythms of flowing, staccato, chaos, lyrical and stillness. Founder Gabrielle Roth held that these rhythms help people access different parts of the psyche. For instance, fluid movement embodies the feminine and continual, while staccato brings masculine and focused energy.

The 5Rhythms Chakra Journey workshop will help answer the questions: Do I feel grounded? What does my heart say? What is my relationship to pleasure and nourishment?

“Having offered a few Chakra Dance series over the years in Honolulu, Hawaii, I was excited to create this new offering through the lens of 5Rhythms moving meditation,” teacher Heeraa Sazevich writes of a June workshop. “They worked together in beautiful synergy taking us on a journey from the mud to the lotus.”

Sazevich will also guest host the Sweat Your Prayers session of minimally guided dance earlier in the week, 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. September 26, $15.

First Existentialist church is located at 470 Candler Park Dr., NE, Atlanta. For more information visit 5Rhythms-Heeraa.com. Call 912-704-3108.
