Vinings Welcomes New Yoga Studio

Stellar Power Yoga (SPY) celebrated its grand opening last month in the Riverview Village Shopping Center. Owner Miriam Frost picked the location at 3300 Cobb Parkway because the area lacked a studio.

The 1,475-square-foot facility is the New York City native’s first studio, and her inaugural staff includes Jason Anderson, Kimberly Fuller, Brooke Stewart and Christie Shaw.

SPY offers mostly vinyasa-style yoga with a healthy sprinkling of Bikram Yoga. Frost, who started her practice in 2010, is a 200-level Power Yoga instructor certified by Yoga One in Charlotte, North Carolina. She relocated to Atlanta in 2013 and taught at several locations including Be Yoga, in Marietta.

“I see yoga as a tool for empowerment,” Frost says. “I want to create community, a non-judgmental environment. Yoga can become competitive, but I want to create a supportive environment. What one takes from the studio should be something that improves everyday life.”

SPY’s offer to first-time students is $49 for one month of unlimited classes. The drop-in rate is $20 per class, and class packages range from $89 for five classes to $299 for 20 classes. The studio also offers unlimited classes starting at $99 a month.
