“Even if you have nothing in your wallet, nothing can keep you from having a great summer. You can listen to crickets sing you to sleep, trace the Big Dipper, breathe in the stars, run through a sprinkler, host a cartwheel contest in the front yard.”

~Regina Brett

Aaah, summer … the long-anticipated awesome days of summer. It’s the season of abundance and growth; a time to explore outdoors, nurture creative energies, relax, play, enjoy friends and celebrate life and the bounty of nature.

Tips for having a joyful summer:

Engage your senses. Walk barefoot in the grass and feel its textures with your feet. Sit quietly inweb-pl_mike-in-garden a garden and listen to the sound of birds and children. Soak in the smells of summer flowers. Savor the sweet taste of garden fresh vegetables.

Trust your intuition. Practice sitting still and listening for inner guidance from your heart.

Eat cooling foods. To balance the heat of summer, eat more fruits and veggies that cool, like cucumbers, sprouts and luscious, juicy melons. Include plenty of fresh, bitter like dandelion greens, endive, spinach, kale and Swiss chard in your summer meals.

Drink lots of pure, fresh water. A handy rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight in fluid ounces each day to keep your body refreshed and hydrated.

Have a happy and bountiful summer!
