Sevananda Celebrates 40th Anniversary

Sevananda Natural Foods Market will celebrate four decades in business from noon to 5 p.m., October 25, with delicious vegetarian refreshments, games, clowns, face painting, entertainment and craft vendors. This special celebration will honor Sevananda members and patrons with guest speakers, kids’ activities, and a wellness spa in the lower level community room, featuring massages, reflexology, Reiki and other healing services.

From its humble beginnings in 1974, Sevananda has grown to become one of the largest natural food co-ops in the Southeast, with a strong commitment to serving the community. Started by a group of self-proclaimed hippies, Sevananda—indicating service (seva) and joy (ananda) in Sanskrit—was founded on principles of health and wellness. True to their name, Sevananda’s priority is to serve the community that cooperatively owns, controls and works in the store. They are also one of the only truly vegetarian/vegan groceries on the East Coast, with no meat or meat byproducts sold in the store.

Location:, 467 Moreland Ave. NE, Atlanta. For more information, call 404-681-2831 or visit Sevananda.coop.
